There is little in life more rewarding than watching “the wheels turn” in someone’s mind though the learning process, or witnessing the “light come on” when a student finally understands the subject matter. Teaching people, both youth and adults is a great honor and a pleasure.

Teaching them the Holy Scriptures and the love of Jesus Christ is a passion! I haved served in the ordained ministry of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, for over 28 years. I graduated with an undergraduate degree from Concordia Teacher’s College(now Concordia University) in Seward, Nebraska, in 1983, and Concordia Seminary (Saint Louis, Missouri) in 1987 with a Master’s of Divinity. I have served congregations in Anchorage, Alaska (vicarage), Chesterfield, Missouri (field-work), Bovey, Minnesota (“Home of the Picture Grace”), Wyandotte, Michigan (“The Heart of Downriver”), Woodland Park, Colorado (the “City above the Clouds”), and now Albuquerque, New Mexico (I love Red and Green!).

In each place, I have witnessed the impact of the Gospel in the lives of God’s people. I have celebrated and mourned, and have been humbled by the overwhelming work of the Holy Spirit through the Word and through the Sacraments.

Here at Christ Lutheran, you are free to explore your faith, ask questions, and search for answers. I respect the variety of religious (and non-religious) backgrounds from which our students come. I help them understand what it means to be a believer, and facilitate their growth in the knowledge of what it means to put Christian faith into practice in their daily lives.

I believe teaching the faith is more than “memory work.” It is all about shaping lives and hearts to help their faith become Real, Relevant and Relational. It is about preparing them to live and walk in their faith wherever God leads them in life. To God Be the Glory!

1 John 3:1 says, “See what love the Father has lavished on us that we should be called children of God, And that is what we are”; That makes us royalty!

I am incredibly blessed. I have had the honor of working in Lutheran schools for 29 years! I received my BA in Psychology and Early Childhood Education from Concordia University, in Irvine, California. I earned my Masters in Education with an emphasis in Early Childhood from Concordia University, St. Paul, Minnesota. I also have a second Masters degree from Western Governors University in Educational Leadership. I have a New Mexico level 3 teaching license for both Early Childhood Education and K-8th grade, as well as a Level 3 administrator's license.

I am married to Marty, a marriage and family therapist. I have two grown sons, two old cats, a lab mix named Miss Ruby Tuesday, and a beloved chihuahua named Skippy Jon Jones.

Colossians 3:17, “Whatever you do whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to the Father through Him.”; I firmly believe it is an honor to work with God’s children and their families and I’m grateful to be serving Christ at Christ Lutheran Church and School!

Pre-K Teacher / Bookkeeper

Proverbs 22:6
Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.

I have always had a love of learning and of serving the Lord. I am happy that I get to do both here at Christ Lutheran on a daily basis. There’s always such excitement when a child “gets it.” Realizing that we all learn in different ways, I like to incorporate a variety of activities and engage the different senses during our week. I also want each child to know that God made them special and will always love and care for them.

I have worked in the preschool and extended care programs at Christ Lutheran since 2013. I have also worked here as the bookkeeper since 2006. I have degrees from the University of Utah and Albuquerque TVI (now CNM).

I grew up in Utah and moved to Albuquerque with my husband David in 2002. He and I have two sons, Josh and Isaac, who attend Christ Lutheran School. Our family likes to hike, play tennis, and play board games in our free time.

Music & Choir

Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! Psalm 100:2

I have been playing the piano since I was five years old. I grew up at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Nederland, Texas, and attended Trinity Lutheran School in Port Arthur, Texas, from Kindergarten thru 8th grade. Church organists and choir directors at both places were my mentors. They taught me to use my talents in service to our Lord from a very young age.

I went on to receive a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. I met my husband Jerry there. We have two grown daughters and two wonderful sons-in-law.

I began working at Christ Lutheran Church and School in 1999. My responsibilities have expanded over the years. They now include planning the worship services, playing piano or organ for all worship services, directing adult choir, bell choir, and middle school choir, and teaching music to the elementary grades.

Music is a universal language! It is filled with emotion. It is an expression of our praise and thanks to God for all His love and faithfulness. It is a way we can proclaim the saving message of salvation through Jesus. I love teaching and sharing my love of music with all those worshiping and learning at Christ Lutheran Church and School!

Church Secretary

Being a church secretary was not on my radar of potential career paths growing up. I graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology from Arizona State University in 2004, after that I took steps to become a strong applicant for dental school acceptance. My plan was to be a pediatric dentist. God had different plans for me.

Shortly after graduation I met Joel and less than 3 years later we were married. I have one step-son Micah, and two sons, Lucas and Caleb. We moved to Albuquerque in the summer of 2014 and Lucas began kindergarten here at Christ Lutheran. We immediately felt at home in the school and church, and became members of Christ Lutheran. Lucas and Caleb are both students here now.

Somewhere along that timeline of events God decided that being church secretary would be a great job for me and I completely agree! I have been the secretary here since the summer of 2017. I enjoy every part of this position, and I am so thankful to God for leading me here. My favorite things to do outside of my secretarial duties include: long distance running, reading, cooking and baking, and most importantly spending time with Joel and our boys.

“Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.” – Proverbs 19:21
